My research addresses the hypothesis that impaired executive functions observed in many older adults are due to difficulties inhibiting irrelevant and distracting information. If executive function problems in older adults are essentially due to difficulties downgrading attention to irrelevant information, then potential benefits should be available if the processed distracting information suddenly became relevant to the cognitive task. I am also interested in age differences in inhibitory effects with regards to resolving interference during memory retrieval.
I received my H.B.Sc. in psychology and biochemistry from Trinity College, University of Toronto in 2010. During my undergraduate degree, I conducted research on perception and feature binding with Dr. Morgan Barense and Dr. Mary Peterson. Currently a graduate student, I am continuing my studies at the University of Toronto in the Hasher Aging & Cognition Lab under the supervision of Dr. Lynn Hasher.
