I am a fourth year PhD student working under the supervision of Drs. Lynn Hasher and Cheryl Grady.
I completed a B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychology and Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on multiple projects investigating whether long-term experiences that require high levels of attention and control (such as music training) are associated with enhancements in executive function.
My undergraduate work sparked my interest in attention control and drew me to Drs. Lynn Hasher and Cheryl Grady's work, which focuses on age-related deficits in attention regulation and distractibility. Working with Drs. Hasher and Grady has allowed me to investigate behavioural and neural differences in how older and younger adults regulate distractors, and more importantly, to gain expertise in integrating behavioural and neuroimaging findings. My current work focuses on age differences in large-scale brain network interactions and how they are associated with cognitive patterns observed with old age. In particular, I am interested in examining how age differences in network dynamics mediate the behaviourally documented age-related decline in attention regulation and interference control. In addition, I am interested in investigating the relationship between those network changes and older adults' enhanced cognitive performance on tasks that utilize meaningful or personally relevant stimuli.
